PANTHEON PHANTASMA DEPENDANCE
You,
stillborn child of capital:
Culture killed us with conventions, Humiliated active thought,
Left destroyed what was once taught, No intentions, no dimensions.
Vomit into the void and swallow the eco of your own voice, To morph your mind follow this rite when you are ready..
Other than human presence,
Silent like the morning blue, flimsy like the evening drew.
Welcome to the realm of rituals,
Vita Contemplativa,
Pantheon Phantasma,
Rest,
At the doorstep of the haunted house of altars.
We;
Celebrate the ceremonial, Neuro-psychic energies, Twist and twine in time.
We;
Offbeat and bizarre,
Seduce seductive superstition of symbolism, To dissolve in the sentiment of sweet paranoia.
Hazy shapes, tongue-tied omen
– slipping out your memory,
Leave it all behind - follow your unsound mind.
We;
Crossover crossways, Strip away worldly worries, Peel off social skins, move together through time, slow mechanistic speed,
We are in limboland.
Here and now inside out the diurnal rhythm of daily routines,
We kill the buzzing presence, the ultraviolence of ever glowing screens.
the ever wireless wired connectedness, the ever-growing presence of narcissistic authoritarian tropes.
We beat the neoliberal beast, bust bubbles of competitive autonomy, To celebrate communality, to invoke the imminent presence of objects. Presence other than human,
Other than human presence,
Silent like the morning blue, flimsy like the evening drew.
The more we rely on glasses the less we see. Ertrage die Dauer des Momentes.
NOW
Fold this paper three times three
and tell yourself;
”So mote it be”.

The theme of this year‘s exhibition builds on the recent publication of Byung-Chul Han essay “Vom verschwinden der Rituale” where the philosopher discusses societal and individual isolation processes caused by technical progress and the colonization of time. Increasing egocentrism and narcissistic authoritarianism are causing the urgent necessity to build spaces to explore new forms of shared life and social cohesion.
PANTHEON PHANTASMA DEPENdance, is a microcosm of artistic-experimental togetherness, located right in the underpath gallery space Gold+Beton under the “Ebertplatz”. In contrast to the object focussed main exhibition (which is based in an old fire station only 300 meters away) this venue relies on body based performances, physical- and emotional matters. At this location, interdisciplinary performance art is linked with the retrieve of ritual practices to explore new visionary narratives and socio-political discourses. Doing so Gold+Beton transforms for a week into a temporary territory for an experiential antithesis to normative instructions for action, contemporary production and consumer behavior.
The cultural program invites artists and performance makers from 12 different disciplines to explore the sphere of the ritual as a physical practice. The public will be actively involved in the programme through workshops and participatory actions. Through spoken word and poetry, dance and movement practice, short film screenings, sonic acts, music shows and reading salons, the gallery space and its urban surrounding will alter into a venue for transdisciplinary and participative performance art in the broadest sense. Performers* and audiences become inevitably the shaping factor for various social scenarios in space.
With a focus on the search for a redefinition of social coexistence in the public urban space of Cologne, Ebertplatz with its current socio-political situation is the ideal location for a one week show, dealing with the emergence of new narratives. The aim is to give space to non-binary realities and to explore other forms of community living to facilitate moments of collective dreaming of alternative futures.

‘Song to the Sirens’
Fabian Reichle
Song to the Sirens is a work that materialized when Fabian Reichle was commissioned to perform at an exhibition in Amsterdam that presented art in a domestic space. Interested in using the space as a traditional salon, he depicted the window to the outside rooftop as a frame of a tableau vivant. The architecture of the venue allowed the audience to watch Reichle perform outside underneath the pouring rain with an office building skyline in the background. He tells the story of an isolated human being in an uncanny idea of the future, where a big part of human civilization has gone extinct. He closes himself off, wrapped in a cocoon, afraid of diseases, malevolence of the estranged and other dangers he’s exposed to, inflicted upon him by humanity. He chants his laments of loneliness, desperately trying to initiate a dialogue with the surrounding world. But there is no answer. The sound piece contains interpretations of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Tim Buckley’s Song to the Siren.
Fabian Reichle (Germany, 1991) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Amsterdam. During his studies in music and journalism (University of Music Karlsruhe) he gained interest in finding new ways of presenting research. He experienced expressing himself in various forms such as performance, sculpture, video, sound and scent. At the moment he’s interested in examining human psychology in connection to the performativity of the human body in relation to his surrounding.

‘Symphonies and Bed’
Silke Xenia Juul
Symphonies and Bed is a crippled concert of care and concern — a sonic exploration of the vibrations of time, transforming carelessness into care and solitude into an orchestra. Silke Xenia Juul investigates existential personhood and perceptions of time as experienced under capitalism, interjecting scholarly texts with personal narrative and song.
SX Juul is an interdisciplinary artist and writer based in Amsterdam. Her work investigates the liminal boundaries between academic writing and performance, often interjecting scholarly texts with poetry, personal narrative, stand-up, and ritual. Juul’s practice explores illness, existential personhood and perceptions of time as experienced under capitalism through live performance. Juul holds an MA in Critical Studies from the Sandberg Instituut
and a BSC in Philosophy, Logic & Scientific Method from London School of Economics, specialising in the metaphysics of physics. Juul is currently attempting to sing in a choir with her previous selves as an act of sonic mourning and existential melancholia.

Sonzai Zone (2019)
NVISIBLE.STUDIO
Sonzai Zone (2019) is a speculative fiction film on intimacy and loneliness after the normalization of ambient communication media. An unlikely encounter between Yún and Souvd takes place in a near-future where social interactions are largely based on the mediation of human presence, known as ‘Sonzai-kan’. Shifting between XR games, Immersion Arcades and spatial home displays, their insidiously orchestrated relationship escalates into extreme idealization. Meanwhile, Souvd’s ex-girlfriend Ntzumi launches into undercover investigation.
NVISIBLE.STUDIO is an independent research practice by Finnish designer-filmmaker Emilia Tapprest (b. 1992). Coming from the background of interactive prototyping and new media at Aalto University, she completed her second master in film at the Sandberg Institute in 2019. With an early interest in ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence as objects of design, her focus has shifted to investigate implications of emerging technologies and alternative power arrangements in society at large. Her present practice is situated between design-ethnographic field research and the production of speculative fiction films in close collaboration with artists and experts around the world. For Pantheon Phantasma she is showing Sonzai Zone (2019), a near-future narrative on fully-mediated relationships.

ATEM
Olga Holzschuh
Atem is a performative 'setting' that sees the breath as an essential, everyday ritual, both individual and collective. How is the physical and psychological shortage of air while breathing related to individual, as well as social and geopolitical crises? And how is breathing also subject to the benefits of a hyper capitalized culture?
Olga Holzschuh is an artist and a lecturer based in Cologne. In her works she addresses various forms of control and searches for the constitutions to which people and bodies are subject. Based on the changes that occur in thinking, acting and feeling under current control mechanisms, Olga Holzschuh develops ‘settings’ for thinking about the present and future.
Atem is one of her performative 'settings' that sees the breath as an essential, everyday ritual, both individual and collective. Olga Holzschuh is particularly interested in the 'synchronicity' and 'asynchronicity' of breath, which reflects us and our current life. How is the physical and psychological shortage of air while breathing related to individual, as well as social and geopolitical crises? And how is breathing also subject to the benefits of a hypercapitalized culture?

Dj let go
Abel Kroon
Farrah Abrahams one world trade center 9/11 vlog, Stockhausen's exile, the Iran cables, Julius Eastman's posture, Sejourner Truth's percipience, the reality fabric that contains us, the fabric that holds and separates us, capitalized intimacy, notre dame burning, Venice flooding, the safety net, the crack, the stain, come go well well, impending doom, my shaking legs, almost there, everything is resource.
Abel Kroon aka Dj letgo is an Amsterdam based composer and performance artist. He graduated
from the conservatory of Utrecht in 2014. His autonomous work is more-often-than-not performed by a splinter group of heteronyms that satellite his character. Through out their work they expose an uncanny universe through research and sound, music, and new media. As a collaborator Abel has performed the roles of composer and sound designer for experimental theatre and new dance.
